Dram 6 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 21yr and over category winner. 43.2% ABV. £139. Matured in Caribbean Rum casks. Nose: More hay and apples, my dad’s old leather satchel, definitely exotic fruits. Mango, pineapple Palate: Mellow and creamy, avocado, chilli, lemon, in fact… guacamole!

Dram 5 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 21yr and over category finalist. 51.4% ABV. £313. Matured in refill American oak casks. Nose: Blueberries, hay, light vanilla, bacon? rhubarb Palate: Sweet, but sour, definitely some smoke, very spicy, blueberries in abundance, some meaty hints, slightly chewy. Such a good dram. Deserves more time than could be offered it at a Tweet Tasting. A real treat to try it!

Dram 4 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 13yr to 20yr category winner. 40% ABV. £63.95. Matured in Oloroso sherry & bourbon casks. Nose: Spicy, malty, banana, that slightly burnt wood smell from a high power wood saw Palate: Much less spice than the 12. Quite sweet, banana in there, also kiwi, quite dry, aniseed balls.

Dram 3 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 13yr to 20yr category finalist. 40% ABV. £39.45. Matured in Chenin Blanc casks. Nose: Fresh cut hay, a little oak, elderflower, rosemary, galia melon. Some Kellogg’s Frosties. Palate: Creamy and oily, pepper grows, rich tea biscuits, citrus notes REALLY tasty. Quite a dry spicy finish. The melon’s there on the palate too. Surprised by a sudden wave of dark chocolate digestives A really tasty dram and excellent value.

Dram 2 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 12 Years & under/NAS category winner. 40% ABV. £30.25. Matured in American and European oak casks. Nose: Boot polish, malt, pineapple cubes, spice Palate: Mild pepper that grows as you go, malted milk biscuits, citrus, heather You can certainly see why this is a staple of the drinks cupboard. It goes down well, but for me there are more interesting drams at the price point.

Dram 1 of the @spirit_speyside #Dram16Winners Tweet Tasting. 12 Years & under/NAS finalist. 40% ABV. £29.95. Matured in bourbon casks. Nose: Malty notes, marzipan, raisins, grapefruit zest, peach, sugared almonds. A little banana bread. Palate: Slightly oily, old-fashioned lemonade, maltiness at the end. Fantastic dram for the money.
