Dram 4 on my The Dram Team #WorldwideWhiskies Odyssey takes me to the Emerald Isle, and more specifically, the Cooley distillery with the 12 year old Connemara. This is unusual for an Irish whiskey, being peated. On 25th January 2016 I was able to take part in The Whisky Wire’s tweet tasting of 4 Beam Suntory┬ámalts. We tasted Ardmore Legacy, Connemara, Bowmore Small Batch and Laphroaig Select. Connemara Nose: Very briny with damp smoke, like a fire that’s just been put out with water. Oaky hints come through after a time with some leather.
