Bowmore – The Devil’s Casks II

Bowmore – The Devil’s Casks II

I’ve been saving up savouring this very special dram for a suitable occasion and decided that All Hallows’ Eve was more than suited to the job. This is a very limited release of whisky that has been matured in first fill sherry casks. It was released in 2014, and has an age statement of 10 years. Bottled at 56.3% ABV. Dark, almost ruby in colour. Very sherry-like, as you would expect. Nose: Immediately hit with smoky sultanas. There’s licorice there…

Bowmore – Darkest 15 Years Old

Bowmore – Darkest 15 Years Old

Dram 4 of the @TheDramTeam launch Twitter Tasting Off to Islay we go. 43% ABV Nose: Smoke of course, but damp smoke. Warm apple pie with cream as it opens out. Palate: Very thin to start with, but then the claggy oily peat swirls through engulfing the mouth in a spicy bonfire Finish: Dry and leathery I’d happily drink this if given it, but I’d rather spend my money on something punchier like Port Charlotte or Lagavulin for the money.

Bowmore – Small Batch

Bowmore – Small Batch

I was given a bottle of this as a gift. Here are my thoughts. Tasted on 15th January 2016. From Bowmore: “Good Things Come In Small Batches Exclusively matured in first and second fill ex bourbon casks, then blissfully married together, Small Batch exhibits the best qualities of both. First-fill bourbon offers delicious vanilla sweetness, subtle spices and bourbon oak smoke to complement Bowmore’s gentle peaty smokiness, while the second-fill cask enhances Bowmore’s fresh fruity complexity and showcases its trademark…
